Cookies and Your Consent
Many websites ask for consent because they load dozens of advertising and analytics cookies. We show a consent banner too, but there is far less behind it. This page explains exactly what happens in your browser when you visit.
What cookies are
Cookies are small pieces of text that a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. Local storage is a similar feature that keeps information in the browser without sending it to the server. Both can be used for useful things, such as remembering a setting, or for tracking people across sites.
What this site stores
| Item | Type | Purpose | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Banner choice | Browser local storage | Keeps your yes-or-no so the banner keeps out of the way | As long as your browser keeps this site's data |
That is the whole list. The entry holds your answer and nothing else, it never leaves your device, and nothing about it reaches our end.
What this site does not use
- No analytics or statistics cookies.
- Nothing for ad targeting, retargeting or affiliate tracking.
- No social media widgets or pixels.
- No embedded content that sets third-party cookies.
Because nothing optional is loaded, every article behaves identically after a yes or a no. Saying no just stores the word no.
Changing your mind
Want the banner back? Remove this site's stored data in your browser. Browsers usually tuck this into their privacy menus, and most let you clear one website at a time while leaving the rest alone. After that, the banner reappears on whichever page you load next.
Another option is to block cookies and local storage outright in your browser. The articles will still display; the banner may just reappear on each visit because your answer cannot be saved.
Server logs
Separately from cookies, the host's servers jot down routine details about each page request, as nearly every web server does. Those logs are described on our page about how we handle data.
If this changes
Should we ever add something that stores more information in your browser, this page changes first, and a fresh consent question follows wherever the law calls for one. Curious about any of this? The contact page reaches us.
